After a hard earned win the week before. Macclesfield went in to the game against Brooklands full of confidence. After a team talk by skipper Jones they were bought down to earth when they realised in the last 3 games Brooklands had scored 25 goals and only let 4 in. This was good advice as Macclesfield were 1-0 down after only 5 mins and were 4-1 down at half time. The Macclesfield goal was a scored when two of the elder members of the team combined. Orme passed the ball to Jones who got to the by-line and fired the ball back to Orme who managed to turn the ball with the reverse of his stick into the corner of the goal.
Changes were made at half time and Macclesfield settled down and started to put some good moves together in midfield. However the power and size of the Brooklands team, time and time again broke down the Macclesfield headway. Brooklands scored a further 3 goals in the second half to close out the game 7-1. Macclesfield keeper Josh Berry was a well deserved man of the match after making some fantastic saves in both halves to limit the damage. The young Macclesfield side should take some encouragement from the game as in parts the team showed a great deal of promise. |
